This Month’s Tip

Those nice new fog lights fitted to most new cars look great and give that little bit of extra light for night driving – but be warned !
A driver can only use front or rear fog lights if it is difficult to see other vehicles or objects due to poor weather conditions (for example, heavy rain or fog). Fog lights cannot be used in clear weather conditions, whether it is day or night. Section 217 of the Queensland Road Rules apply.
Inappropriate use of fog lights in Queensland can cost you $$$$ !
Ouch !!

Yes it’s nearly holiday time and many of us are loading up the 4 X 4 to get away for a bit of R & R and some fishing, but those 14 foot fishing rods can be a bit tricky to transport.
Fishing rod holders may be fitted to your bull bar provided they comply with a couple of conditions. They must be attached to the left side of the vehicle and be designed to carry no more than four rods. That does not mean you can line up three sets of four and carry twelve.!
Rods, sinkers, hooks and reels must be securely attached. Lighting must not be obstructed by rods or holders.
But, most importantly, rod holders must be removed or retracted when not in use behind the profile of the bull bar.
This will reduce the risk to others, whether you are parked at the shops or driving on the highway – and you will avoid a fine from the boys in blue for driving a vehicle with a dangerous protrusion.
